Happy Father’s Day, to you-alls. And Mothers, out there, enjoy yourself.

Happy Fathers Day you all!!

I, for one once was a big fan but, now not so much. My two oldest are in their Early 40’s so its no big deal for them,so I have to play along. I get a phone call and a bottle of Jack or Tennessee Honey and we share and they go home happy.

We have burnt offerings on the grill and if the other kids don’t like what we burnt, its back to spaghetti and sauce for them or Kraft dinner, which when made correctly is a real dish, esp. when you are HUNGRY, its made on the grill,….well, it’s a long story, but not now.(u tube short movie)??.

We try and leave Moms outta the cooking part, because its Fathers Day, don’t mean you escape household chore and such, as a matter of fact you get to do double duty. That’s where the, I ain’t so fond comes in, it’s a lot of work and I forget its in our humor or honor been a Dad and all.

I wonder if this happens on Mothers Day too.!! A flash of wisdom has occurred. No, wonder Mom doesn’t want to be fussed over either, it’s a lot of work. Do, you think this is more like kids day instead???, this bears further investigation.

We have three grandsons we are raising all under the age of 11 years old now and its real cute the stuff the little guys, the 7 and 5 yr olds, make in our celebration of Fathers. The 11 yr. old dude is not really into it much, so we can’t blame him, its seems a little below his viewpoint, because his friend doesn’t have a Dad in his life, so its rubs off.(another story).

So, slowly I begin to steel myself for the gathering which I don’t want to happen, but I guess I can be un-grumpy for a day, you never know could be the way to go.??? And having said that, don’t expect miracles here please.!!, it’s a doable, but do I want to??.

Happy Father’s Day, to you-alls. And Mothers, out there, enjoy yourself.

p.s. they fooled us this year, they sent us to a restaurant and they stayed and took care of the kids. (the Dad and the Uncle). That, was a treat, thank you boys, olive of you or all of you-all?.., Smoked up salmon, that was gooood.!!.

Don't laugh.it works just fine.

Did our Aunt Flo leave a recipe book or box?.

Dear Joe:

Do you remember the last letter I wrote to you about the essences of food making me move my mind and I am sure the body did follow, to a different time and place? Well, as I was returning from this place I had another thought pop into my head.

Well, again it’s to do with food and more seriously it is to do with the people that have passed on and what did they leave behind for us as memories? What, I mean is did our Aunt Flo leave a recipe book or box and did by some chance it got willed to one of us?

I know you are laughing about this right now and wondering what a nut bar I must be, but I am very serious about this! If you get a chance phone up and find out will you please?

In my last letter I was writing about the very nice memories our Aunts food that I was getting reoccurring flash backs and how are we going to keep her memory alive if not thru her food recipes. That was my intent, even though I didn’t say it in that many words.

You know at every family gathering and picnic we always looked forward to Aunts Flo’s secret (how come they taste so good, oh it’s a secret and I should have asked more questions) and delicious sandwiches which all just could not get enough of this the stuff I am talking about, and by now your lights have come on and you are saying what a genies ass I am.

So, to finish my thoughts on this, just so you know that this important for all of us to carry on, we have to treasure and preserve these foods for our own grand kids. Yes, I know they may not give a dam, but once they taste them sweet little sandwiches, they are going to be hooked.

So, it is our duty or our replacements, which will no doubt be easy to find, to carry on this work and make sure that those foods are presented to all of us that show up at the Family reunions. So, you have noticed that the attendance is down this year or we are having too many reunions; I believe that these foods from Aunt Flos recipes will draw them back.

So, Joe is you up for the challenge or what? I will help and test drive those sandwiches to make sure they are made just right, because we have a lot riding on this recipe. As I have said it is up to us to inform and teach those young ums all about the past of their heritage and especially the food recipes, which made them the people they are to-day.

Yep, I can see it all now, one bite and we will be mobbed and soon we will have to sell those recipes to them as long as they are kin of course, no interlopers, that’s for sure. Joe, its time for us to act, the talking is over with are you with me or not?

Aunts Flo’s secret sandwiches.

Write to you all real soon,

Love youse all

Bruce

Stand By Me

I have to sell the Beemer.

Back in the saddle again.
Dear Joe;

I got to tell you all some bad news, I sure I have to sell the Beemer. Yep, I decided that I am not able to muscle the bike around like I used to. As a matter of fact the bike damn near fell on me.

I was moving it out of the shed and that’s when all the excitement began to happen. I took it off the center stand and then it wanted to lean one way and I over compensated and pulled it back and almost got pinned parallel to the wall.

Holy moly I prayed to myself, well the words were stronger than that. I, thought for sure I was going to be the new unlucky objet d'art in the shed. Well, I did my best summing of strength and some deep breathing, (huffing’ n puffin’) and I was able to get the bike back on its center. The tires need more air, so it did what it wanted.

And to make matters worst, I still needed this bike outside the shed on the grass. Another struggle and I had to stop for a pint of malted beverage to restore my dignity and strength.

Well, after I struggled with it I got it out and then I stopped for a moment and fulfilled my next move, while I was working on the project at hand.

So, to-day I went to the shop and made the arrangements and I am going to get not think about it or I am going end up crying in my drink, I don’t like salty rye and ginger, much, but you know you could have a least a couple to see if ….. ,.idiot.!!!!!!!.

So, any way I will continue this later, because it ain’t over yet and the “fat lady” has yet to sing. Man, tell you what, this pint, (I mix my drinks out to be a pint, generous pint, sure tastes “gooooood-”, I wonder what the neighbors are doing to-day?. Does your grass need cutting,…??.,hey, are you busy right now??.

Is there any justice left in the world?, am I so bad that I have to start losing my toys?, shit.!!. don’t answer that, I already know. No, one gives a flying shit, but me.!! Amen.

p.s. and no, Joe, you can’t buy it.!!. ‘cause I want a million dollars.!!

p.s. again: I, have thought this over and my son said I should get the bike on the road and he would help to ride it for me, now ain’t that a sweet kind of guy.!!. So, forget the letter I am riding again, as in “throw the saddle on the stove, we are riding the range tonight”.

 Later,Joe !!

Play Russian Roulette if you want to, but I'm done with buying foreign....

A friend sent this too me and asked to share.!

This is not only to save Canadian jobs it is to save ourselves and our nation as a whole from illness. Foreign production lines are not kept up to the same high standards we have here in Canadian and are far from clean.

Not to mention the horrible state of overseas water supplies. Don't they say when overseas or on vacation always drink bottled water? How do you really know the water used in most imported canned edibles is clean? You don't! Scary thought isn't it?

We had better get on the wagon and start reading labels. Not only do we already send enough money overseas as charity but do we really need to be sending more of our hard earned money when buying something that could possibly cause mass sickness across our beloved family, friends and countryside???? Think about it!

Play Russian Roulette if you want to, but I'm done with buying foreign....

This is TRULY worth reading and considering.....

All pickles with the Presidents Choice label and the No Name yellow label [Superstore] are made in India. Think about it, water from the Ganges River is used. Tell me if you think this sounds like a clean enough river!

The Ganges River and basin is the most heavily populated river basin in the world, with over 400 million people and a population density of about 1,000 inhabitants per square mile (390 /km2).

Exactly what I thought you would say!

Made in Canada

A physics teacher in high school, once told the students:

That while one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn't

Slow a train very much, a billion of them would.

So, keep that thought in mind, read the following, obviously Written by a patriotic Canadian:

Shopping in Lowe's the other day for some reason and just for the fun of it I was looking at the garden

hose attachments,They were all made in China . The next day I was in Home Hardware and just for the fun of it I checked the hose attachments there.

They were made in Canada!

Start looking........

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else - even their job.

A quote from a consumer: ...my grandson likes Hershey's candy. I noticed, though, that it is marked

made in Mexico now, instead of Smiths Falls , Ontario . I do not buy it any more.

My favourite toothpaste, Colgate, is made in Mexico now. I have switched to Crest.

You have to read the labels on everything.

This past weekend I was at Wal-Mart. I needed 60W light bulbs. I was in the light bulb

aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off-brand labeled, "Everyday Value". I picked up both

types of bulbs and compared the stats - they were the same except for the price. The GE bulbs were more money

than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most

was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get

ready for this - Canada at a company in Ontario .

Their Equate Products are also made in Canada , and are very good.

Just to add my own experience on buying Made In Canada , I was looking for canned mushrooms

that were made in Canada and could never find any, so I would buy fresh.

But recently I found Ravine mushrooms - made in Canada with a little red maple leaf on the can. A

little more money but when I opened the can I looked at mushrooms that look

like real mushrooms, not a mushroom that looks like it was cleaned in bleach.

Another product I no longer buy is Del Monte or Dole canned fruit. Del Monte is packaged in

Taiwan and Dole is now a product of China .

Why should we pay for their fruit when our growers are left with fruit rotting on the trees. E.D.

Smith is still made in Canada .... buy theirs, at least you will know

what is in it and have some quality control.

So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here .

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made In Canada .

The job you save may be your own or your

neighbor’s'! (Your children & grandchildren, also.)

If you accept this challenge, pass it on to others in your address book so we can all start

buying Canadian, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies!

(We should have awakened two decades ago.)

Let's get with the program. Help our fellow Canadians keep their jobs and create more jobs here in Canada .

If President Obama insists on a 'Made in America ' Policy, which is commendable of him, to

support American workers, we should do likewise.

Read the labels. Support Canadian jobs.

BUY CANADIAN !
