My Last Ride
My hands are clenched around the chrome bars.
The engine’s rumble sounds so sweet.
I, twist the throttle with my palms.
The world slips by beneath my feet.
The slapping of my leathers and raging winds on either side,
drum a beat of sweet contentment
As I ride this….my last ride.
Alone on my steel pony, to the heavens I’ve been called,
but fret not, my dear loved ones, I’m not lonely here at all.
The landscape now is just a blur, as tears stream from my eyes.
My bike and I leap forward, off into the calling skies.
I, hope, I, touched your lives one day and left a treasured mark.,
Now I ride on to FOREVER,
With your memory in my heart.
To the person who wrote this sonnet, thank you and if you read this and want to give us your name so we may know, you are welcome to do so.
Ride In Peace.
All the riders of the Wind.
All the riders of the Wind.
Your spirit will be with us as we travel along the earthy highways and back roads recalling your laugh and the roar of your machine as we speed to our homes. Watch over us and guide us on our way.
