Its been 6 years since Mum has passed.

It has been 6 years since Mum has passed away.

That time has gone by fast is the common phrase I use in my memories of this wonderful Woman, Mother and Grandmother. The Grandchildren ask about ( GG) and Nana tells all the stories she can remember before the spirit  of their youth  takes over and they change the subject and go off to play.

Mum has two  sisters still living and they are battling the effects of advanced age and all its precautions that go with it. When we visit them it’s like were looking at Mum as well because they remind us so much of her. Nana looks like her mom and one sister burst into tears when she sees her.

When the Family gathers, we easily discuss the memories of Mum and for a short time all kinds of stories come out and they run from early child hood to the present day and we discover new information each time. Is it new or have we forgotten since the last time we met.?  I feel we have forgotten.

I know I have, when asked about certain questions about events I draw a blank, it shows, first words are” you remember that, you were there”. Well, maybe I was, but seriously it does not seem to register. Luckily, others chip in and they fill in the blanks, saved again.

Each one of us handles the anniversary of Mum’s Angel Day in a different way and when we discuss this in a group, I look around and watch the expressions on the faces. Some are happy; others sad and a few are in space. The ones in space have been doing this complication for a long time which at any given moment, that person will go into a “trance”.

The looking through the old photographs and obits seems to be a past time as well, but only to the people endowed with the sixth sense would understand, it’s not everybody. (Our ability to perceive the unseen world of angels, apparitions, Heaven, auras, etc. is what is known as our sixth sense) and not everyone believes, so it’s a thing you keep to yourself, all Moms are clairvoyant.

We all do it and it’s a process of living your life and it’s a good way to confirm we are ok and the sorrow of her passing is healing and pleasant thoughts are hopefully more frequent as well. We go the cemetery and pay our respects and leave flowers and have a small conversation with the loved ones and express our love and how they are missed,” indeed; that time has gone by fast”.

The Boy Scout at the Beer store.

Hi Joe;

Are you enjoying the wonderful weather we are having.? I sure am and as luck would have it I had to go the beer store for …..??. Luckily, I had empties other wise I would not buy what I should have. Women, would love the beer store, every thing is on sale and there are specials all the time. No coupons.!

You are not going to believe my luck to-day, the boy scout had an opportunity to help a damsel in the parking lot.., this is almost the same thing that happened at the Corner Tire store where a lady was trying to stuff her cute little car with a bike.

Of course I park near the “seniors only” spot aka “the front door” which was empty. I guess you can’t really park there.??. People use this entrance to get in and out.??. So, I am parked beside this real cute little car, a KIA Sole de Ole’ and I am looking this over and saying, hum, ”what A CUTE CAR”.

Then I hear some bottles clinking in a cart been wheeled over to the cute little car. I hear lunch. And the women behind the cart is like from” a Vogue magazine layout out:. All I can say is” I am blinded by the light”, she is just gorgeous. And what she wore was, a flowing piece of cloth wrapped in a smooth and gracious body and they were made for each other. Multilayer, polyester with cotton blended accents.

The pace maker has kicked in and guess what I am saying to her, “Hi, you all need a hand”.? No, thank you I can do this.!! But, it looks so heavy, are you sure.?? Yes, I am fine. Do, you mind if I watch you heave those boxes in the trunk. She must be a fitness instructor. So, what kind of bike do you ride.? No, bike just a car. (I wish I had a camera). Arms. Just a flying and zip in go the boxes, poetry in motion.

She is doing all the work and I am the one that is breathing hard. I think the pacemaker needs a tune-up or I gotta to control my breaths. I guess I can’t talk and breath at the same time. Hum???. Well, its not like I am an non athletic person, a slow rider.

This car is small until you open the back hatch door and it looks like a 23 foot semi trailer. And she swinging those boxes in like they were made of foam. 24 bottles per box. And her purse is the size of lap top. And she had 3 different brands. I ask, does this person have a identify issue or something.?

Well, they weren’t sure what they wanted so I just picked what was handy. I offer that she would be better off with a 28 bottles of Moosehead and that will cure what ails them.! Thank you she offers and I take her cart for my empties. She is just a light as a butterfly as she glides into her car, real nice to meet you.!! .

Thank goodness, I had the empties in the back of the truck because I just forgot “what the hell I was doing here”. Yes sir, a seniors moment and I enjoyed all of it. The Boy Scout almost rode again and I was willing to be ridden and to travel. Well, its not like it sounds, is it?.

Made my purchases and made it home and I was singing, “I am an old cowhand from the Rio Grande”.

I'm an old cowhand from the Rio Grande

But my legs ain't bowed and my cheeks ain't tan

I'm a cowboy who never saw a cow

Never roped a steer cause I don't know how

Sure ain't a fixin to start in now

Yippie yi yo kayah

Yippie yi yo kayah

What, no Moosehead, sheez?

The Crunchy Critter !!

Can you guess what they are saying?

The Crunchy Critter

As promised earlier I would write about this person, it’s a women and just for the records these types come in all sizes and species. Is, this politically correct, I have been known to offend these people that literally hang on each word and make issue of it…yes,.......... I am ok .

So a crunchy critter once identified no longer has a gender, because that’s is a moot point in my opinion. They will no doubt piss you off and that’s their job to do so and you are powerless in your quest to get service delivered to you in a friendly, timely, fashion from her, or them, anyway.

The only satisfaction you are going to get is, silently to yourself, curse her name and call her every name you can think of, to help you deal with the critter that she is. She can get you all revved up quicker than your wife in an argument. Now, you just gotta admire that don’t you.?

Now, that’s something I like to do, tell her how her charisma has an emotional impact on people. I am going to pause a second and savor that moment in my mind, because it ain’t goanna happen.

This women works at a local company and we as a Family have sent some money here and they have done all the work in our homes. For all I know this behavior is tolerated here and she can get away with it because, she might a lesser owner or a relative or just so dam good at her job, that being “crunchy” is part of the job description, maybe,……….its ,ok here.

I know the true owners have made a great effort to get the business built to a point where word of mouth is what keeps new clients going there and there field service guys are top shelf. So, I can’t imagine that this women is allowed to do this and not get herself fired.

There are three times that I called and asked for service and was insulted to a point where I did phone another provider and did use him. Just to be a jerk myself, I phoned and told the crunchy that I had found someone else and not for her to worry about it. She was thankful and hinted that the next time she could help.

So the question is what empowerment does she have that we all have to change direction into her schedule when we are the ones that are providing them with a meal ticket. The truth is that we are over a barrel and they know it and so a little attitude is given to show us we aren’t the only people out there.

I, am also thinking is it me?. Do I piss people off for no apparent reason, other than I ask a question?. Could be, but that is another story and I really will have to write that one up. I believe that once you have seen this person and heard her speak, you will know exactly what I am referring too!. You, get the impression her poop don’t stink.

Having said all that, in her defense ,she must be very efficient at her duties, in order for the company to prosper and be able to provide a level of service to a large customer base. Judging from the response she gives me, she must be the scheduler of all the work that is predetermined for the whole damn place etc. So, asking for a favor without proper waiting time. “Well ain’t happening”.

And I quote: “we aren’t going to keep a man waiting until you decide when you are hooking up your stove”. Excuse me, I am waiting for you to give me a time when he ain’t busy, remember!!!.

So, we are at her mercy and it is, what it is, so live with it or you have a choice to make!!. Do you have a “crunchy critter” in your life?. Write to me, love to hear about it.

If, by some strange coincidence, your are a “crunchy” and are reading this, don’t take offence, just because I didn’t use your name, does not mean that it didn’t happen!!. This would qualify as a “reality show”. If I have offend any of you in this story, too bad, get over it, I need a stove connected, anybody handy??.
